I have 3 hens. 2 KC's and 1 Mallard. The mallard is 21 weeks the KC's are 22 weeks. They have yet to lay any eggs. Do you know when they will start laying? My chickens have started to lay and are in the same coop as the ducks during the night and in the morning when they lay so I thought that would encourage the ducks to lay but not yet.. Any ideas when they can start to lay and what I can do to motivate them?

That's weird. My KCs were born in early april and once started laying a week ago. I've heard that they start laying sooner than chickens.
Not sure what you can do to encourage them, other than to make sure they have plenty of light. Maybe make sure they get outside a bunch.

They free range so they are out from 11am- 9pm. We been keeping the coop locked until 11 so my chcikens dont lay everywhere until they get the hang of laying IN the coop haha.

Is it dark in the coop ? Storeys guide to raising ducks says they need fourteen hours of light in order to lay consistently

light get in the coop during the day before I let them out. But we are going to be putting a window in soon.

well the color certainly seems right to be a duck egg. How exciting!

It's a bit small, but it's her first. when chickens started laying lastweek their first egg was really small too. So giving her a few weeks to build up size :)
