Hi, I have 3 hens that are about 25+ weeks old and as far as I know should be laying but have yet to. Is this because of the season? Is it normal? Could something be wrong. I do currently have a rooster in with them but only because there have been issues yet..I do know about more hens to the rooster and am able to move him but like I said they are all healthy, eating, sleeping together on the perch and have yet to see them fight. and so not sure why they aren't laying yet. Any ideas or advice?

Thanks 😊

I agree with the others, as the days get shorter chickens start laying less :)

I wouldn't worry, low light levels can keep them from starting until the spring. What breeds are they? Some are slower to mature. Four of my English Orpingtons and Brahmas just started laying at 33 weeks and some of the bunch are definitely still at least a month or two out judging by appearance. Some are just slow :)
thank you for your reply, i have 2 barnvelders and 1 welsummer.
