No eggs

Hello,
As a first time duck owner I have limited experience with them. I recently purchased adult mallards, two males and three females.

They have been with me for two weeks and they laid eggs on their first day at my place and none since. I live in Central Minnesota so they weather has been up and down. They are eating good and still a little scared of me because of limited human interaction in the past they do love it when I bring out treats to them. They also have oyster shell that I mostly see the hens eating but is also open to them. The get fresh water all the time but they often like to make it dirty. They are also crazy about their little pool.

They are in my garage as of now for quarantine, but the garage door is open quite a bit for them. They seem happy - but why no eggs? I would like to incubate a few with the hope of hens to add to the flock.

What should I do?

Any chance they hid a nest away from you? Or are they restricted to a specific area in the garage?

Also, with the lighting situation with the garage door - are they seeing most of the days sunlight (window, for example)? Or is that being restricted down by the door being closed?

They are restricted to specific areas - the garage lights are on during the day and off at night but nature lighting is restricted with the garage door not always being open. They also have a heat light 24/7 since Temps are still in the 30s to 40s

When should I get nervous and more concerned?

I would not be nervous or concerned. Wait until you get your ducks outside in natural light. Do you have a coop and a run? or is your garden safe for them to free range in the back yard?

Once they are happy in their new home they will start laying again.

You probably have too many males. I suggest that you rehome one of the males if you are unable to get three more females.

First eggs laid were already developed, they get “stressed” moving to a new home so can take a few weeks for them to settle back down. Also your ratio is a bit off. Should considering getting rid of some drakes. Make 1 nesting box for the hens as well. Maybe give them oyster shells as well, place in separate dish than their regular feed
