No eggs

So even though we are in the depths of winter will she lay her first egg imminently or will it still be march?

It could be anytime, or March. I had May-hatched chicks start laying in December last year. I had June-hatched chicks wait until February.

If she's squatting, that's a good sign that she's getting closer.
