I am so discouraged. I've had chickens over ten years; stopped for two, b'cz of health issues; now got newbies last year, 6 of 8 were under six months. I had 8 & thought it was too many, so got rid of half over 2 months ago. Laying has virtually stopped with remaining 4. One went broody 3x so I sold her; got 2 more a cpl weeks ago - these are six months' old; one started laying, the other molting. My other 2 are not, except for the olive egger. She drops about 4 a week. The new mixed breed has started laying this past week. I get abt 7 eggs a week - what is happening? Nothing has changed with my routine on letting them outta the run, veggies, yogurt, laying feed, dried mealworms. I want to get rid of the free-loading two. Help wd/b appreciated; thank you

Patience.
Chickens do not lay if they're not 100% comfortable in an area so your new ones may not lay until then. They hate change.
They don't lay when it's too hot or they're molting.
Cut out/way back all the extras and make sure they get a quality layer feed with atleast 18% protein.
They aren't machines .
