One of my three hens got taken by a fox last week. The other two have now stopped laying. Is it trauma or just low light levels in England in November?

Could be either or even a combination of the two. Good luck!

Sorry for your loss

Thank you. Cried - mostly because remaining two were so sad - they didn't know how to huddle at night - they've got over it now tho but still few eggs. Think its light levels. Very gloomy here.

Why not put a 60 watt blub in their coop,

it will give them the light they need and a little
more security. So sorry you lost your birds.
a little hot red pepper flakes, or even chili powder.
in their feed once a week will help
say a teaspoon in a qt. of feed.to get them to lay.
. as long as they are not molting.
