Let me first start off with I am new to the quail community... we recently got 21 quail 14 females and 8 males... we got them about three weeks ago and have only had two eggs since we got them. I am wondering if the type of cage they are in makes a difference and if there are any tricks to getting them to lay eggs they are about 3-4 months we were told... we have a sand bath in there but not sure what we are doing wronge... its a dirt ground but have a hut they can go in and they do they just don't lay eggs we have wod shavings on the ground and recently we mowed the lawn and put some clipings in there they have been playing in... any tips on what we are doing wrong or what we an do to get more eggs?

Do they get at least 14 hours of light a day?

Also, plenty of food, water, and oyster shells? I think they would still lay without the calcium supplement, but if they're calcium deficent thier body might shut down egg production. I don't really know since I keep a dish out for mine all the time so they eat what they want.

They could also be stressed from the move,I've never bought adults so I have no idea how long it takes for them to get used to new surroundings.

I would give them a month to get use to the place. not too sure maybe there are too many males stressing out the girls? I put one male to a min four females. Not too sure if you have put them all in one cage or separated.
