I have three chickens, and up until this fall, I've been getting three eggs per day. They are only a year old so I don't think it's from age. I now only get one egg every other day. They used to eat the eggs for a while, but i always saw shells and there are no shells in the boxes. What would cause this. I also have a daylight bulb on a timer to extend light hours. Please help me get my chickens laying again!

My BRs were due for a molt at 18 months old, and that's what they did. Any signs of molting with your birds? After mine molted, they weren't back on the job for several weeks. I'd heard about "jump starting" them when it's still winter and supplemental lighting isn't effective: mix a little Vitamin D into their food. Perhaps it was a massive coincidence, but the day after they had the Vit. D they started laying again. I give it to them every other day, mixed into their morning gruel.
