no egs in three days!

Hi, ruby has not laid for some time now. she's eating and moving around as normal. not sure what to do maybe she has decided she didn't like it. I make a fuss if her and when i pick her up i cannot feel if there is an egg or not . haven't tried the bath yet. Will give it ago if we still get nothing.

The bath is only useful if they are obviously uncomfortable, it helps them relax their muscles which can make it easier to pass the egg. If Ruby is behaving as normal it probably won't help.
My girls were both looking miserable - feathers fluffed out, tail down, not moving much and not eating much. It worked for Xena, she laid, but as far as I know Pond hasn't yet. They are both pretty much back to normal behaviour so I'm just keeping an eye on them for now.
Always some drama going on. Owning chooks is like having your own private soap opera.

Thanks for the reply i live in aus so light is not a problem as we get lots. i took a picture of rubys poo this morning just to see if anyone thinks its normal or not. im not worried about not getting eggs of ruby just want to make sure she's healthy and happy.

That's a tought one (the lack of eggs, not the poo).

She sounds like everything is fine, poo looks fine to me and she is obviously eating enough by the size of the poop ;) we have had some really hot weather here though (NSW) so maybe it is a response to the heat? My Isabrown has slowed a little over the last 2-3 weeks but still lays every second or third day.

Have you had any other changes in or near your coop lately? If she is stressed from night time disturbance it could affect her egg production. But sounds like all is ok just no eggs, odd.

My girls just took about two months off, had a hard molt and the days got short. They are just starting back up again and we've got the light turning on about 4 until 8 p.m.

this is all reasuring as i will not worry too much about the laying. will let you know when the egg arrives and ruby will get a big treat. just enjoying lots of cuddles with her at the moment
