No kernel in bumblefoot?

Ok it’s now 5 months later and I’m still fighting with this. That large bump on top of her foot is hard and coming to a point almost but no skin darkening. The surgical wound tries to heal but I just today had to reopen it and pull out a chunk of stringy stuff. I’ve pulled out chunks before but they come back. I’m sure it’s related to the hard thing on top. I tried to squeeze that out the wound but no luck. I tried grabbing it with tweezers. I can feel the tips tapping whatever it is but there seems no way to grip it. I’m assuming it’s a kernel but I worry it’s something I shouldn’t be touching, like bone? It’s tempting to want to cut it out from above but I’m afraid I’ll damage the integrity of the foot. I use sugar and betadine, cover with a gauge dressing, wrap with vetwrap, and top with a bit of surgical tape. She seems to be comfortable walking.
It’s just going on for so long and it’s always stringy stuff. Any thoughts?
