So 25 days have come and gone and the eggs i put under my broody bantam hen Luna did not hatch
There are chicks in there one looked like it might of died about a week before due and one little before that

She very devoted and the other chickens have not bothered her the one i incubated hatched
I have ordered 6 fertile Batman eggs coming next week
Clean out her coop all fresh
I am gonna take the eggs out as i gave them 25 days
I'm worried she will be upset they were taken and never hatched

Any suggestions on having a better success rate?

Shes never hatched before ..she been broody for a least 3 months
Tried to break her of it and no success
I only candled the eggs twice very gently.
She ist being bothered by the others

Lucky for me she is very calm when I check on her and see how she is

Thanks all

To allow her to set for an other 3 weeks will be very stressful on her. Chickens loose a lot of condition when they set even for the requisite 3 weeks.

Is there any chance you can get some day old chicks for her?

Thats a good idea too that was my next step
Thank you

I would try to find day-old chicks before removing all the eggs (unless they are starting to smell and may explode). If you would rather remove them, I’d give her a few more fresh ones, just as placeholders until you can find chicks, then swap the eggs with the chicks.

Good luck!

Hens start incubating in response to hormones and when these hormones have ran their course the hen will abandon the nest on her own. There are so many reasons that new chicken people fail to hatch chicks on the first try that I won't go there. By the time you get fertile eggs and set them 26-30 days will have passed since your hen started setting.

A hen is flesh and blood, and flesh and blood is not a mechanical device like an iron hen (incubator) and with 21 more days thrown into the bargain (before a new or second clutch of eggs will be due to hatch) may very well mean that your hen will abandon the eggs before they pip.
