No more beak trimming!

I keep my little Porcelain D'uccles in a cage and of course they can't wear their beaks down naturally. I tried beak trimming and hated it as much as the bird did. My solution is to put several small, rough river rocks in their food dish. They peck the rocks when the level is low. It works! The beaks are down to a healthy length. YAY!

That's a good idea. I feel sorry for those chickens that have been debeaked. I understand it. But I feel sorry for them. I had a chicken that had been debeaked and now being older has worn her beak down so much that she looks like a gorilla.

That's a really good idea. I keep a cement block in with my chickens, but that's not nearly as pretty as what you're doing. Good thinking.
