No more drake

X2 I think we start placing human feelings on our animals sometimes. Whenever a new animal is brought into an existing herd/flock there will be an adjustment in the power in said herd/flock. Sometimes, we expect our animals to understand and act as we would but they are animals and act the way they do.

You did not say how long you had the hen or if you spent time getting your flock used to her. The drake was most likely just reacting to a perceived "invader" to the flock.

I was planning on getting rid of him soin anyways. He was only being mean to this duck not the other 3 I brought in. I think it was that the other ducks were the same bred and colors ad the duvka I already had. This duck was is a cuyaga, black with the shiny iridescent green colors. Either way the only rwason he didn't kill her was because I was out there the entire time they were together and as soon as he got her I took him and pinned him to the ground. As soon as I let him up he went right back at her. So I tried separating them for awhile
It just continued and. I had somebody that wanted him, so he left. My daughter gave him to me because he was mean at her house. To certaiin ducka, the dogs, the kids. And then to her. So it was gopod to see if somebody else could make hom happy.

My drake acts normal to most of the ducks. But there is one he doesn't like and will pick on her til she is bloody. He doesn't mate with her, he holds her down as if he is and bites her head and neck and eyes.

I keep them separated.
