No more eggs?

I have available oyster shell. My feed is only 16% protein so I'll have to switch to something else. Any recommendations? Also, I filled easter eggs with Brown mustard, hot sauce, and cayenne pepper so if they try anything sketchy, they're in for a "treat"
That's just going to make a mess.....and they may not get them open.
I had already made a few suggestions.
Egg eating can often be a shortage of protein and/or calcium.
Fake egg in the nest can help...or roll away nests.
Roll a fake egg onto the ground/floor amongst all the birds, see who goes at it the fastest hardest, might be your culprit

Layer feed is often minimal protein (~16%) for producing egg.......and if you offer other foods, that is diluted.
I like to feed a 'flock raiser' 20% protein crumble to all ages and genders, as non-layers(chicks, males and molting birds) do not need the extra calcium that is in layer feed and chicks and molters can use the extra protein. Makes life much simpler to store and distribute one type of chow that everyone can eat. I do grind up the crumbles (in the blender) for the chicks for the first week or so.

The higher protein crumble also offsets the 8% protein scratch grains and other kitchen/garden scraps I like to offer. I adjust the amounts of other feeds to get the protein levels desired with varying situations.

Calcium should be available at all times for the layers, I use oyster shell mixed with rinsed, dried, crushed chicken egg shells in a separate container.

Animal protein (mealworms, a little cheese - beware the salt content, meat scraps) is provided during molting and if I see any feather eating.

I apologize aart, I failed to see that post of yours. My subscriptions only showed me the most recent line from the thread. Thank you for always being so thorough with your explanations! I looked up the flock raiser and I think I might try it. Do they make a pellet version of that? Thanks again for always being a big help :)

Are you on a phone....or looking at responses on email program?

I notice people often seem to not to see other responses in a thread....when I click on a thread in my subscription list, it takes me to the first new unread response.
But I am on a laptop and I know the mobile device programs can work differently and there are many different ways to navigate this forum regardless of the vehicle of transmission.

I toggle from mobile to laptop aart. I'll be sure to look at the whole thread from now on...
I have had problems in the coop every time I tried feeding Dumor pellets.
I liked the pellets because they didn't make a mess and they were inexpensive but I think Im gonna switch to what aart suggested.

Hot sauce and cayenne pepper isn't likely to affect the chickens. Birds don't have tastebuds for 'heat'. Easter eggs are too flimsy. You need ceramic dummy eggs or golf balls. They are sturdy enough to take a good pecking.
