No more need to float test eggs!

Hi , i just thought i'd pass this discovery on to anyone who may be interested. Dollar General stores have been selling something called a "Ear Amplifier" for 5.00 It is just a cheap "hearing aid" gadget but it works perfect to find out if your eggs are good once the chick has developed enough to hear a heart beat...Just hold the egg up to your ear while using this and if it's good , you can hear the chick inside. I use it with my coturnix eggs as they're impossible to candle and i don't feel safe float testing them.Takes about 2-3 seconds to test....

can't go wrong for 5.00 !

You can actually heat the chick's heart beat with this thing? And it's only a fiver? WOWEEE!!! Thanks for posting the info. I mean, I'm in Scotland and we don't have Dollar General stores here, but I'll keep a look out for cheap hearing aids in our equivalent 'Pound shops'...

I read this and had to run out and get one. I'm on day 28 with my second try in hatching emu eggs. No luck I coudn't hear anything.

It's a good idea though.
