I'm so worried. This is my first time hatching out eggs from my Rouen pair ( or any duck eggs). Two were pipped yesterday when I left for work. They were rocking a lot at that point. By the end of the day, they had all pipped, and the pips on the first one had gotten a little bigger. I though for sure I would have a couple of them out by this morning, but none of them have made any more progress overnight. Is that normal? Were they just sleeping and resting up for a big day of busting out today? I need some reassurance!

Thank you so much for replying, I'm at work, trying to focus on a busy day instead of worrying about the babies getting out!
What kind of duck is that in your picture? A Welsh Harlequin?

I just finished my first duckling hatch yesterday. All hatched on day 27. Eggs started rocking on day 20. They internally pipped on day 24. The first external pip was on day 25. Then it took 33 hours from first external pip to the first hatch. It seems to take forever after external pip to hatch because they have to finish absorbing their nutrients from yolk before emerging. Zipping process is really fast once it starts, though. It took 15 hours from the first hatch to complete for all 9 duckies. The only hitch that came up with my guys was one pipped on the pointy end instead of into air cell. Hubby had to help that one hatch as it could not turn to zip itself.

Best of luck!!!

No worries!
