I AM NEW TO RAISING CHICKENS. IT HAS BEEN 25 YEARS SINCE I RAISED THEM .
I HAV A 3 BUFF ORPINGTON'S ABOUT 26 WEEKS OLD ONE OF THE CHICKENS HAS LAID THREE EGGS NOW OVER THE PAST TWO WEEKS WITH NO SHELL JUST THE WHITE MEMBRANE.
THERE ARE DAYS WHEN I GET TWO OR THREE EGGS WITH A GOOD SHELL.
THEY ARE ON LAYER FEED AND HAVE OYSTER SHELLS AND GRIT.

IS THIS OK? IS THERE SOMETHING I SHOULD DO?

FATHER OF 4 DAUGHTERS, 3 BUFF ORPINGTONS, 5 GOLDEN COMETS,
2 LABRADORS AND ONE UNDERSTANDING WIFE OF 20 YEARS.

Did you hit caps lock? Do you feed them oyster shell? You can also give them egg shells that you have already used (you ate the egg inside already) and mine love them.

Sometimes it takes their systems awhile to get things right when they start laying. I don't know what to suggest since they already have access to oyster shell.

I have an OEGB that has laid about 5 eggs this year and all were that way. I did so wanted to get little ones from her
