I started my journey with chickens in late May when I decided I really wanted some Silkie chickens. Fast forward to the middle of June I went and picked up Silkie chicks delivered from Ideal poultry from my post office .
The weeks flew by and as they grew bigger i knew i had to get a coop for them. The budget was slim and I found a coop I thought was really nice off craigslist... bought it and 2 weeks later it fell apart.. good thing my chickens werent in it yet. after not finding any good coops i decided to build my own. I have absolutely no building skills but i read some plans and thought i could do it. I started my coop 3 weeks ago and this is what I got done after 4 hours.
Its defintely not perfect but its structurally sound. I can push on it and it wont fall over. The tops of the sides got cut uneven but i decided i would leave it for ventilation for my girls, instead of filling them in. Then today and yesterday I got alot more done and my coop is practically done. I got the door put on and painted the entire outside, the floor and about a foot up the wall with brown outdoor house paint.

I still plan on raising the coop about two feet with 4x4's, adding more ventilation and covering everything with hardware cloth, making a pop door, painting the inside walls with a bright color, building a roost and I still have to do the run. But I just wanted to show everyone that even someone with no skills can make a coop.
