No Worries

I have 19 Silver Cuckoo Marans eggs in the bator on day 12. All appear to be growing as they should. Temp is holding between 99 and 100 degrees and the humidity fluctuates between 30 and 45 percent. Am turning 3 times each day. I get kinda tickled when I read about some people getting all nervous and worried about their eggs. Of course i want all my eggs to do well because we like eggs for breakfast, but I only paid $2 for the whole lot so if I lost em all I'm only out a couple bucks and a little time. Plus, I'm gaining some knowledge and experience. That alone is worth the price. So, no worries. My advice to everyone who is hatching eggs is to just relax because chickens are making eggs every day.

Well now. If u would just share where you got 19 cuckoo eggs for $2 we would all be cool cucumbers too. ;-)

Gee I wish I could find EATING eggs that cheap! Cheapest hatching eggs I can find here are $30 a dozen PLUS postage!

Hence my CNY eggies are eating eggs ($3.50, cheap around here!) from a local farm.

As a side note, once these birds get older and begin to lay, I too plan on selling eggs for hatching to help with the feed bill. And I surely won't charge big $$ for them.

I would drive that far to get fertilized Maran eggs for $2 doz! But, then, I love that part of the US.

I hope you are still this calm when they are hatching. My first hatch I was that way too til they started to hatch then became a basket case. I swore I would never do that again too stressful. Now I am on my 5 hatch and I have 31 in the bator and more eggs comming. If all these hatch guess I will be selling some chicks again.

Best hatch I've ever had was the one I ignored the most. I now check once in the morning and once in the evening, just to make sure temp and humidity are okay. Other than that, I leave them alone. I do use a turner though, so handling is kept to a minimum.
