I am up to 9 hens, so far no one has displayed any signs of broodiness i am
Not entirely disappointed by this, but wondering if i left eggs in the “ nests” would they take to them? I collect every day, should i hold off it i want them to get in the mood?

Some breeds just straight out dont go broody, what breeds do you have?

If they are a breed that tends to go broody, leave about 5-6 eggs in their nest. Some chickens, even if they are a breed that tends to go broody just dont.
2 pekin, 2 rouen, 2gold welsh harlequin and 3 runners. One of the runners was reported to hatch a clutch last year with 13 ducklings.

If I leave eggs, my Muscovies start going broody almost immediately. My Rouens, on the other hand, will make beautiful big nests, but will immediately ditch their nests when it’s time to go foraging, although they may quickly “tuck everybody in” before they go. I think that Daphne has had two days in three years during which she thought about being broody. However, it just wasn’t for her. I think breed and probably even strain have a lot to do with it. But, yes, leaving eggs in the nest definitely promotes broodyness.
