I had been thinking of getting guineas, but now I'm wondering about their noise level. My neighbors don't like my 3 roos who crow on occasion. How much louder are guineas compared to a crowing roo?

Thanks,
Sonja

They do make quite a bit of noise.
But they usually only make a noise when something out of the ordinary happens(unfamiliar animal, person, car, ect.)
They do make quieter noises all the time when foraging or eating but other than that there pretty quite.

They will be VERY LOUD... even compared to a rooster... or 3 for that matter, maybe im just a "party pooper". I can tell you right now though, the neighbors will not be too appreciative lol.

No one is being a party pooper. I live on 4 acres with a neighbor behind us who's a jerk. He's already complained once about my 3 roos, so I don't want any more trouble with him. Altough maybe he'll want to move if I get guineas!!

Ha, well that might be one positive way to think about getting guineas. I really do *dislike* snobby neighbors. Good luck, and maybe you can just keep a pair/ trio? That wouldnt be too much more noise then the chickens.

I love my chooks noise, I love my roos noise, I don't mind critter noise, but my neighbors think we should have peace and quiet all the time

. I wanted to get guineas as extra flock protection, but don't want any neighbor trouble. Of course chickens, roos, guineas, you name it are legal on my property.

Just to add.

Guineas do not like to be caged up and can fly even when they are little keets. They will wander all over the place.

Mine like sitting on my neighbors porch rail. They would then send up the air raid because of the reflection of themselves in the pool below!!
