I have two Welsummer pullets that are five months old. One is looking like it will lay soon (she squatted and just sat there when I petted her this morning and she has a big bright red comb), the other appears to be months away in the way she is maturing (tiny pink comb and small tail). The one at POL, is the noisiest chicken I have ever scene. Not only is she always talking, but she is also very loud in doing so. Is this a Welsummer trait? Kern

That is a hen trait, not a Welsummer trait -- not *all* hens become this noisy, but it is common enough that I laugh every time I hear people pushing for allowing hens but regulation of roosters/crowing birds "because of all the noise". The finding of the voice does tend to come with the reaching of POL.
