I have 3 chicks, 2 are about 12days old the other is aprox 9days old. They all get along fine, arent too hot/cold, plenty of food water etc. They were all fine when there were 4 of them, however i lost the littlest 5day old the first night of bringing them home. Ever since then the 9 day old chick constantly cheeps, even whilst eating and is extremely noisy. Would this be due to her/him loosing its friend or is it a roo, or something else im missing. The other two arent anywhere near as noisy. This one will go over to the home made nest and cheep constantly until the other 2 are in bed with it and then go to sleep. All 3 are differnt breeds so i could tell whos chick was whos :)

The little one in the middle is the NOISY one!!! :) Feel free to tell me if any are boys :) i know its prolly way to early to tell. I was told the black 1 is a Australorps, the yellow a light sussex and the noisy 1 in question a lohmons?

Some are just more vocal than others. You'll find each has it's own personality. Mine all do their egg song and cluck but I have one that will not shut up. Probably the dominant one of the flock. I'd swear she's a roo' but she lays eggs.

Is there anyway to teach them to be quiet :) Mainly at night when im trying to sleep and shes cheep cheeping at midnight whilst having a snack or telling the others to get back into bed! She/he doesnt seem to be the dominent one, the other 2 push her/he out of the way, go off in a pair and leave her, pretty much ignore her/he all the time

I don't know any way to train her to be quiet. She may be calling because she is lonely if the others are shunning her. Once you can get rid of the heat lamp and it gets dark they should quiet down. An Ecoglow would be one solution for the heat lamp. If you are using a white bulb switch it for a red one may help also.
