Noisy Rooster

Hello,

I've got a 18 month old Rhode Island Red rooster who is too noisy for my neighborhood. Any suggestions for quieting him? Would more hens help this free ranging rooster? I've got 4 - hens for him right now.

Roosters are loud. Period. If the issue is with him crowing at 0'dark-thirty then keep him inside his house to minimize the noise until it's a more reasonable hour. If the issue is with him crowing during the day then I'm afraid you may be out of luck. Re-homing may be your only option. Increasing your number of hens will likely not make any difference in his crowing.
