Non-crowing rooster :)

Oliver the OE, with his girl, is 6 months old and has not crowed yet. He is the dad of 2. One of his babies is a rooster too. I will keep that rooster to see if it crows. I am happy with Oliver, he is not mean. I don't hold him, but he doesn't run from me. I will update if he starts to crow.

Do you have more mature roosters? Sometimes immature cockerel don't crow very often so they remain under the radar of the mature roosters.

If you don't have other roosters sometimes they don't crow much because they don't feel the need to announce themselves.

This time of year hormones are waning, so that contributes to quieter birds. Come early spring under increasing hormones they start making noise.

He is my only rooster. (not counting his babies.)
We will wait and see if he gets noisy and I will mention how old he is when he does.

A younger than him rooster started to crow, nothing from him yet. I am watching another chicken to see if it ends up being a rooster but it is a Jersey giant, and so big, and has a big hoarse voice, I call her Claudia, unless it becomes a roo, no feathers yet.

Good luck! We had 2 Roo's who did not crow until 7/8 months old. They were our only chooks at the time, but when they started, they started

I have a Bielefelder rooster that looks a lot like Oliver (mine has more stripes on his tail feathers, but otherwise they look exactly the same). "Nugget" also has a gentle disposition and rarely crows except when startled or stressed. I plan to keep him, too. I wonder if your Oliver might be a Bieldefelder mix and that's why he is so quiet and calm? Keeping my fingers crossed that nothing changes for either of our boys!

7 months. He just started to be a jerk to hens and crowing.

He's still young, so I believe he might settle down if you get rid of the younger rooster(s). Just my thinking... and possibly wishful.
