quick question: I visited my friends coop to help with some chicken based concerns they were having. Before going back to my own coop how can I disinfect myself to make sure I’m not carrying any diseases including mereks back to my flock? I have changed my shoes and clothing as well as wiped my car mats down with Lysol. Should I be showering? How easily are these diseases transmitted? I handled my friends birds quite a bit.

I would change clothes and shoes, and wash hands well. Virkon S tablets are sold online from Amazon, and can be mixed in water and added to a spray bottle. That one is used to disinfect a coop and equipment if Mareks or other diseases on farms are a problem. Many people use a shoe wash station with a shoe mat, towel soaked in 10% bleach water if they have visitors to their farm.
