I live in Austin, Texas and am planning to get 5 chicks in the next month or two. The main place to buy chicks in Austin is a place called Callahans. I have no idea how/where these chicks were hatched and how modified their heritage is. I would like to explore what options I have for buying chicks. Are there places I can buy/order chicks from that were hatched from free range mothers and/or less genetically modified parents/breeds?

For avoiding GMOs usually we think about feeding organic feed to chickens.

Do you mean that you want to buy games? (As in, the older wilder varieties of chickens?)

I would try looking for local breeders, their lines will be more pure then any hatchery bird out there. Good luck in your search.
