non laying hen

Does anyone have a hen that never ever lays eggs?

August of 2007 I got two speckled sussex pullets, they were 12 weeks at the time. Around Christmas time I started getting a brown egg almost every single day, probably 5 to 6 a week. My other chickens are easter eggers so I know the brown ones are the SS.

So since they started laying, I never had more than one brown egg a day, and I only ever saw one of the SS hens in the nest box. I always suspected that one of them did not lay.

I had to give away the SS that I knew was laying a few weeks ago (she was waaayy to loud), and have not had a brown egg since. Is it possible, that my hen who is well over a year old, just doesn't lay??

She looks healthy, has a nice red comb, squats for me. She isn't laying where I cannot find them.

It's possible that they don't lay on the same day. Hens generally don't lay 7 eggs a week so if you're getting an egg a day, chances are both are laying

But she is saying that she hasn't had a brown egg in a few weeks.

Yeah, I got rid of the hen I knew was laying, and that was the end of any brown eggs at all, for weeks! Have not had a brown egg since one of the SS left.
