Some of my original flock slept on the floor till they were 30 plus weeks and it wasn't lack of roost space. They develop at different rates, so just keep an eye on them, they will be fine

@aart I will say I have noticed they correlation in the chicken pecking order and some of our pecking order. Especially when it comes to males in the work force.

could it be the heat? my gals had been roosting for awhile and then they began sitting on the ground and the coop floor often. i thought it was because the ground and floor might be cool. it cooled down a bit and they went back to sitting on the perches.

I was given some year old chickens that didn't roost. They were bought as day old chicks and never had anything to roost on. After they where given to me they didn't roost for almost another year! But finally they started to use the roosts with the other hens and now one of them loves the top roost and won't come off the roost until noon each day! So, maybe they just don't feel comfortable roosting now, they may later.

I have one weird birds who just does not roost. She is around 2yrs old. I figure as long as she is not sleeping in the nests, I don't really care. She must have her reasons, but she is not telling me!
