Dumb question, but then again, I'm famous for them.
I was curious to know if your local papers had a genealogy section in them. In my area (5 hours north of Mobile, AL), there is a genealogy column wherein people can write for help in researching their family tree. I've looked a little online, but most of the stuff I've found will end up costing me more money than I have to do a decent search.
So.... anyone have any ideas how to contact something approaching a genealogy column or editor in your local papers? My dad always wanted to come back to P'burgh for a visit (that was home for him) but died before he could. I'd love to make contact with some of my granddad's people. I figured a genealogy column would be the best place to start for someone on a limited budget. If only wishes were water!
Thanks !!
Mary
