Howdy all!
I've learned soooo much from this forum already and enjoy perusing the posts for new ideas.
I got the basic design for my coop from one of the posts here and have now completed the coop and attached run. Except for the external nesting boxes which I don't quite need yet.
4 Rhode Island Reds to start. 1 died.
4 Silver Wyandottes. All healthy.
All 7 are now 6 weeks old and doing great. My wife and I have chairs by the chickens to just sit and watch them. Who knew they could be soo entertaining. I especially love the "chicken football" games when one gets somethinng that apparently the others want. Cracks me up!
The only downside is that one of the SLWs is a rooster and zoning says NO to roos. We'll keep him for a while and then try to give him away. I'm too much of a softy dispatch him and there is NO WAY any of the family would eat him if I did.
Thanks for the great site!
Steve
