Nope!

Ok eggs are in lockdown. 12 of 30 have made it this far. The 18 that didnt make it were casualties of shipping.

But I am hopefull that I will have a good hatch with the remaining eggs.

I HEAR CHEEPING!

I have several pips. And one of the pipped eggs is the egg that I damaged and had a huge dent in it! I removed the tape over the crack so it doesn't cause the chick issues, and the chick was talking the entire time, omg!

I had a mutt hatch today!!! I am still waiting on a few more mutts and some Silkies. I candled them before I put them in and all Silkies were moving around!! Come on Silkies!

Okay, I have lockdown. 26 orp eggs. 24 look good...2 are questionable...now to see who is going to make it to the finish line and HATCH!!!!!!

4cats3kids1hubby2many - great user name - thats me too - I am pretty sure one kitty is an expecting mama (whose babies already have good homes waiting) plus 2 dogs, 40 cornish, 10 mature layers, 18 baby laying chicks of mixed breeds, 16 midget white turkeys, 4 narragansett turkeys and some peeps in the incubator to boot...
Could it be I over complicate my own life?

Well last night I started to put the eggs into lock down. I decided to candle them first and when I did, I discovered one of my turkeys had died

I candled a further four, all of whom had pipped internally and I got a little worked up as they're not due to hatch until Friday/Saturday. Anyhoo, I didn't candle any more as I didn't want to do any damage. I filled the water channels and put a cloth in for good measure. Closed it all up and left it to it. I came down this morning to discover that one had pipped (well, there was a small bump in the shell). It's over seven hours later and it's not progressed at all - is that normal? How long before I write it off?

That is normal.

Once they pip, they rest until the yolk is absorbed. It can be as long as 24 hours from pip to hatch. Welcome to the world of hatching!

At the time I joined I only had 3 geriatric dogs....well we "acquired" 2 young dogs (I started working at a vet office)...I wish I could change it to add 5dogs...etc. I was hoping to be able to get the numbers all in a row...but could not figure out how to do it. Thank you for enjoying the user name...sometimes I think people may get offended because of the "3kids and 1 husband" part....I am of course joking. You sound like you have quite the menagerie (just like me)

7 of my Wheaten/Blue Wheaten Ameraucanas went into lockdown last night.. 1 I'm a little questionable on.. but crossing fingers! Hopefully will have some pips tomorrow!
