Hello!
This being a particularly hen-historied town (the incubator was perfected here! the very first poultry pharmacy!), backyard chickens are plentiful. I've always loved chickens, and have been seriously considering the idea of keeping a tiny flock for years. I've been homeschooling my youngest son (7), and I think that raising and keeping livestock would be a truly valuable addition to our curriculum, too.
Recently, though, given the size of our yard and its proximity to sensitive neighbors, I've come to the conclusion that the smaller-scale coturnix quail would be more the way to go for us. I don't know of anyone who keeps them, so it might be kind of fun to be different, too.
I've already gleaned so much valuable information from this forum over the years, so thank you!
