I got two 14 week old Easter Egger pullets yesterday and they are great! Tame and friendly with nice personalities... The only issue I had with them was at dusk, rather than going into the coop to roost, they flew about 10 feet up into the surrounding trees to roost! They didn't resist us when we got them down and put them into the coop so maybe they're just trying to protect themselves in a new environment but none of my other chickens do this... Anyone have experience with this?

i have a few EE's and they all seem to fly to the very top of the coop at dusk and non of my other chickens do this. So I would say that they like to be far off the ground when they roost, they must feel safer.

Did you not quarantine the birds before letting them lose with the rest of the flock? (I'm not going to go further into quarantine since that's not the topic here.) If you kept the new EEs in the coop, they'd learn that it was home. It would be just like putting young chicks into a coop for a period of time before you let them out.

Until they learn that the coop is home, you may have to catch them every night. I don't know how long that'll take.
