Lakeside Egger Thread

Wanted to add to this thread as I got a lakeside egger this spring as well and was confused when she looked nothing like the images on Meyers website :) I knew as a cross she could look different but I struggled find examples of similar looking Lakeside Eggers. Shes a beautiful light gray bird with puffy cheeks. Meyer did confirm she is a lakeside egger and she laid her first egg this week, a beautiful blue! Sharing in case it helps anyone else trying to figure out which of their chicks is the LE!

A brief update on how well they've been laying. None of them laid through the winter as they did molt late fall. Once they finished either Basil or Lavender started back up in the later part of December and the others have started back up a few days ago. They lay most days of the week, maybe like 3-6 days out of the week? Which is quite good.
Basil is still flock leader and the flock mouth and Lavender is still the flock helper. I think Basil is a pretty good head hen, she's definitely in charge but she's not a bully about it

That said, anyone have any plans of getting some this year? :D

Thanks for the update. They sound like a decent breed! I usually get new laying hen chicks when I purchase my meat birds (spring and fall), but I think I'm getting my spring meat chickens at TSC this year instead of Meyer. I doubt they will have the Lakesides. But fall is still up in the air! If I do, this would be a breed I consider.

Tractor supply uses hoover so they definitely won't have lakeside eggers (unless your local store sources from Meyer for some reason). In any case I hope all your chicks grow up happy and healthy!

I ordered the color egg layer package from Meyer and ended up with several lakeside eggers. They are 9 weeks old. They are very friendly. They’re the 1st to come greet me when I’m outside.

Oh thanks for sharing! I just received a Lakeside Egger chick today - I think?! I ordered one, but it’s only chick on my order I can’t identify..but I have one that is grey and otherwise fits the description! I think I may have a blue one like yours!!
