Sadly this afternoon, our bantam rooster put up a fight with a falcon but didn’t make it out. Thankfully he was the only one to be attacked. I was well looking forward to breeding him with the 3 bantam hens I have to hatch some mini chicks. Now, I have a RIR rooster that is NOT a bantam breed. I know that it is possible to successfully breed and hatch eggs between a bantam rooster and normal hens but I couldn’t find anything about the other way around. Can you breed a normal sized rooster with bantam hens and successfully hatch chicks? When you think about it, it doesn’t seem to be very possible but I wanted to double check. Thank you :)

My rooster Barney is a full sized hybrid rooster, and he bred with my red cochin bantam Rosie (she is pretty big for a bantam though, always the first to the food ). Their chick is almost full grown now, he’s actually one of my prettiest chickens.
Cochin bantam size would be okay, anything smaller probably wouldn’t be a good idea.

I have a large Naked Neck/Turken rooster that has been breeding my OEG bantam :barnie
She seems to handle it okay but occasionally she seems to have a limp.
It wasn’t my intention but my Silkie roo died.
I’m trying to find another bantam roo but I’m not really wanting to raise one from a chick because my NN roo is already claiming the bantam girls as his.
But if I bring in a mature bantam roo I’m afraid my NN and my Australorp cockerel will fight with him because he’s a stranger.

Well, I used Yokohama bantam rooster with normal Arabia hen and its worked

I would be very hesitant about letting a full sized rooster loose on bantam hens.
The pressure on the hens legs when mating is considerable and tendon and muscle strain are a real possibility.
The other point is when the hen isn't interested in mating she can warn, or if necessary, fight off a male of her own breed and size.
Small men and big girls works better.:)
