Norman the Rooster

I mentioned it in his backstory but didn't outright state it. I'm 100% sure he is 1/2 Phoenix and 1/4 Silkie; and it's a good guess he's got Sumatra (multiple Spurs) and some kind of Duckwing bird in his ancestry; so I generally chalk up the other 1/4 to 1/8 Sumatra and 1/8 Gamefowl. So, basically, he's a good old fashioned mutt.

Thank you!
Cool! The long tail is what made me think Sumatra. Really really really want a rooster that looks like Norman.

I think Norman better get a notebook going and take orders for all the chicks he is going to produce.

Yep, definitely Sumatra-ish. Though Summies carry their tails downward, while Norman's tail is held nearly as high as his head.

I'm sure I'll have his sons available sometime, since even the best roosters in the world have a hard time finding homes. I'll be posting all his offspring here so if you're ever interested in one, just let me know.

Indeed. I've already had one person give me their number to call them when I got chicks in, sadly I lost the piece of paper (I feel so bad about that)... so the waiting list is currently empty. But then again I'd hate to get ahead of myself - don't count your chickens before they hatch and so on!

Would you feel comfortable sending a chicken from CA to VA? That seems like a long way to me. :/

The only time I had reservations (NO deposits)on Cocker pups- had a gorgeous litter of 8, all but 1 was the red/orange color people were craving. I lost 5 - the surviving 3 ended up runty size but otherwise sweet & healthy and very pet quality. Never took reservations again. Though to be honest, lost too many puppies even without them.

Ooooooohhh. That must have REALLY hurt.

I've purchased Seramas from Florida and a few peacocks from NY and Oklahoma. Plus some Silkies from MN. I don't think it would be an issue - they handle shipping quite well with a bit of fruits and veggies placed in the box with them. It can be rather pricey though - I expect I'll be charging very little or perhaps even nothing but a good home for the cockerels I hatch (whenever I am able to hatch any), however I can't foot the bill for such shipping. (I imagine it would run ~$60 or thereabouts). But if you're willing to pay the shipping fees and are still interested when and if the time comes, do let me know. I'd be happy to see if something could be arranged.

Oh my. That sounds awful, Diva. And that's why I'm still cautious about this. I'm anxious any of a million things could go wrong. Yes, chances are I'll be able to get some good hatches and move forward with the project and have little Norma/ns running about everywhere. And hopefully that's how it goes... still. Any reservation list, should I set one up, will have to be very conditional upon how and when I'm able to hatch.

I would like to place my order now. I want 2 little Normans and 2 Normas. Just kidding.

If I had room I would seriously place an order.
