I give all my birds, duck eggs. I boil up 3-4 dozen every few days and they LOVE them. I also make them "muck"..... oatmeal, buttermilk, yogurt & bird seed or flax seed or something. It looks like muck and they attack me for it. Plus all our scraps.

Hubby got a call for another interview today! They set it for after Thanksgiving. The owner called him personally and the position would start within a week. He asked what Brian was hoping to make, and we did, and he said that it was plenty reasonable and he'd show him around the office when he got there.

Still hasn't heard back from other 2 jobs, but given the holiday this week, I'm really not surprised they're in no rush because I'm sure they weren't planning on starting anyone until after the holiday.

I really hope something works out soon, but I'm so proud of him getting all these call backs at least. AND he's working today at another private job, so at least he's doing some side work for a little extra cash and not sitting at home.

I'm a wee bit stressed since we've gone through this several times over the years, but its nice to not feel close to rock bottom.

x3!!

Thank you all for your support and kind words. It really means a lot to me!! DH has been wonderful doing all that he can while he is home to make my routine a little easier. I did venture out to the outlet mall today DD needs a coat, but I kept her in the stroller and so there was minimal lifting. She slept in the stroller and in the car, so I didn't have to put her down for her morning nap!!

Started work on the brine mixture for the turkey to let it soak tonight and all day tomorrow!! Started GG G'mas rolls today and boy does that fat melt like butter!! LOL.

lets hope it tastes okay!! Since thanksgiving is only a few days away...chicken question: can/will chickens eat celery?? I had some left over from the dressing I am making and I do NOT care for it, so I thought it might be a nice treat...but I don't know if it is a)safe and b) something they'd actually eat?!? Didn't know if anyone out there had an idea or not. I will confess to LOVING this weather!! I did buy DD an OWL hat though, just in case it gets colder...she's big into owls!! Aside from that, I stopped by Harry & David's and picked up the MIL some coffee as well as a few treats so I don't have to slave over an oven making goodies tomorrow. I have a small box of truffles and I picked up a box of dark chocolate malt balls to make little turkeys with!! They are so cute, you open an oreo, place the ball on the oreo and use the top as part of the tail...never mind, I am horrid at trying to describe it, but you use oreos, maltballs, candy corn and frosting and it turns out to be a cute turkey treat...I hope to make up at least a dozen of them to sit around before they get devoured!!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE!!

You take care of yourself.

As for the birds, I don't see why not? Mine sure eat anything... but I do have some picky eaters who snub certain things, but not others.

Thanks everyone for the good vibes for Brian!

Also, I feel really blessed today, I don't know why. We did have a neighbor come over today, they put in orders with their church for 3 families in the neighborhood who are unemployed. They brought us 3 bags full of Thanksgiving food & goods. I'm telling you, when people are so touching like this, I just break down in tears!!!!

Ask Ruth, I WAY emotional with that stuff!!!

Wow...they look amazing!! Great job VFem!! What wonderful neighbors you have! Makes you stop and realize there are still some good people out there who really do care and look out for one another! Vfem - your story brought tears to my eyes, for that is how we ALL should treat our neighbors in their time of need...not just around a holiday. Still, it gives us more reasons to be thankful! I am keeping my fingers crossed and my prayer up for your hubby to get this job!

Never lose hope!!

Thank you for the celery update, I will go ahead and offer it to the boys & girls at first light...and see if they like it. Today is a day spent waiting (yes...waiting for the in-laws to arrive). I HATE waiting, waiting requires you to be a patient person, and I am NOT patient. Luckily DH set up my sewing machine last night in a new spot (just until I am no longer under restricted activity) so I will be able to finish quilting the baby quilt and start working on the binding (yuck...I think I hate that part more than waiting...haha). I am hoping to have it finished before the in-laws leave so they can save me from having to ship the blanket!! Speaking of shipping, did you hear? The good old Post Office is raising prices & rates yet again!! Last I heard stamps were going up to $0.46!! I feel so old being able to say I remember when it was a quarter to send postage!! Wow...how far we have come, and I am not THAT old!!
