Good morning everyone!!

When you cannot sleep and have a sick bird, do NOT, I repeat do NOT spend your time reading the "Chicken Health Handbook". Man oh man was I diagnosing poor Susan with all sorts of things, even though they say only affects chicks or turkeys.

NOT a good time killer. Well, according to the bottle, the best way to treat is early in the morning, so we pulled the water out last night and I am heading out there this morning with the new waterer and such to get started. What if they don't drink all the water in the bin today...do I need to discard it and begin again tomorrow? So as to not waste the eggs, can I scramble/boil/do something to them and give them back to the chickens??
Also, when do I stop letting DD eat the eggs, would you recommend any that are laid starting today or tomorrow? I am so nervous...I feel the same as I did when I had to defend my thesis in college!!

I am going to try to coral Susan today so I can attempt to give her the supplement orally, DH didn't get home until very late and wasn't too thrilled about having to work in the coop (can't blame him, he's worked 16 hour shifts the last few days), so I didn't press my luck.

I give the Wazine for 3 days, is that correct? Then I wait 2 weeks and reworm with something else?!? Do you get rid of your eggs for that entire time, or how does that work. Is it a whole month (basically) without eggs?!? DD is the only one who eats them, so it's not like she's going to be too sore about not having eggs...I still have 2 dozen in the fridge!!

She may have to learn to like oatmeal!!

I cannot thank you all enough!! You have been extremely helpful!!

What I would have done without you all, I don't rightly know!! Many many thanks!!

ETA: Bhep - you mentioned safeguard for goats...all I can find on TSC website is capsules...do you dissolve the capsules in water or am I looking at the wrong stuff??

You should not feed them back to the chickens either.
Hmmmm........... 2 weeks will put you just about winter break. Maybe I need to come see you and bring my wormer.

Me & the kids will wrangle & worm. And visit...I remember something about homemade cookies.

If you worm today...toss the eggs starting today.
Yes, fresh wazine water everyday for 3 days.

Beth, can you hatch eggs from chickens that have been wormed? We are due for our worming here, but now that I am finally getting some eggs I would hate to miss out for a month.

I have read here that you can...

I have never done this. I figure not.... If you really need/want to, then maybe towards the end of the 2 weeks.

Hey, we can have a sewing day while you're here too...I remember you saying something about wanting to sew....or a cookie day where all I do is make cookies while you prop your feet up and rest and the kids have fun playing/chasing my DD!!
lau.gif
Although...that means I'd have to tidy up a bit
sickbyc.gif
at least it's an excuse to get me motivated!!

Now...what to do with the eggs?!? Why can't you feed them back to the chickens - just curious... lol shows my greenness!!

ETA: If they're toxic maybe I should feed them to the nasty opossum that keeps bringing his/her family to my deck!! Nasty buggers!!

If you feed them to your chickens your just worming them all over again. yes feed them to the opossum family they probably need a good worming too.

I was only offering to feed the wildlife if it meant they would keel over and die somewhere. I don't want to give them a taste for eggs...they might start making their way to the coop...so far they have stayed away from the coop and just ate food out of my compost bucket on the porch (DH has been too busy to take it to the pile and refuses to let me carry it!! LOL). Still...I suppose any dewormer is a good dewormer...haha...maybe I should offer it to DD & DH - they could probably use a dewormer after all, they've been eating after the chickens!!
