Good Morning! Thank you for checking in. We haven't had a chance to clean up the hatching cabinet yet to take some pictures of it to share, hope to do that today. DH was busy putting recessed can lighting in our living room yesterday (he's an electrician

). The brand new one will be here this coming week and I have eggs just waiting to go in.

Oh, forgot to mention that I got a new little rooster yesterday, a beautiful porcelain oegb. He's getting a bath today and then I will post some pictures. He is soo small and cute.

Well.. I had to cull my first bird today... My cockerel I was trying to re-home went after my son last night.... Any bird that shows that much aggression has to go.

It went smoothly, I made a thread on it, you can check it out here

Broke my heart to do it... I raised him from a day old...
I knew I would have to do this sooner or later, but It wans't an easy thing to do.

Sorry for your loss.

Little moist out! Wind was brisk too. Tomorrow I'm going to get fencing for my "Yard". Conan and the girls really need to get out, and run!
I'm almost ready to set these eggs! Just trying to make sure my temp is correct. Need to get a few baby food jars for ballast, and one more day of temp checks. Sure hope moms Roo is doing his job! I'm going to start 6 and see how it goes. Hopefully I can master this process.
Y'all have a great week!
Peace

Well here's a picture of my new little guy. Not a great one, he was still a bit damp from his bath. He is under weight and I wormed him just in case. He is very sweet and likes to be around humans. Not sure of his age but he's young, he has no spurs yet. I think he was picked on allot at his previous home in a large group of oe's, his feathers are pretty chewed up. Give him a couple of months with me and he will look like a different bird!

good morning NC folks,

The coop was a very different place this morning. after removing my cockerel from the flock, the stress levels are way down... the ladies seem a lot happier now.

i miss him crowing though

That is always a tough decision to make but I would definitely do the same thing as I have young kids too. If you need to hear crowing I have two adorable little serama mix cockerels looking for new homes, they just started crowing (if you can call it that).
