A friend of mine has a mixed variety of chickens, including a few silkies. In her coop, which is an old cinder block building, she made a ladder type thing that she leaned against the wall. The chickens roost there at night, including the silkies who often are on the top rung. I have seen them jump from rung to rug.
Two questions: I make my babies warm oatmeal, but am wondering if the can eat the raw oats too.
#2 I am snowed in and running out of sunflower seed for the nonchicken birds. Can I put laying mash in the feeder? Anyone know if the finches, cardinals and such will eat that? I have a half a pound of dried meal worms, but if I put that out it will not last five minutes.
I doubt will we be down the mountain until Wednesday or Thursday, if we can get a hold of the plower.
Good news...my girls continue to lay. I only have five layers, and I have been getting two and three eggs a day.
Stay warm, as I am sure this storm is hitting everyone.
