Hi, I'm ready for a good dry out. I have a quail question. My quail should be hatching soon and when(if) they get moved outside in their pen, can they be around chickens? I know the quail are too small for chickens but are there disease issues? How far apart? I know I should google but I REALLY need to be cleaning DH took DS to ear Dr. and I don't want to get reading and get distracted and I'm sure I'm not the only one this happens to!

you should keep the quail separate from chickens, quail are susceptible to poultry diseases and be wiped out much easier by cocci etc than chickens. I suggest just making sure your chickens can't poo into the quail cages, and are you going to keep the quail off the ground? to put a piece of plastic under the cages, or build a pull out tray to make cleaning much easier. a piece of cheap plastic can be taken down and washed off of poop and replaced every week, or tossed regularly. Quail poo ALOT...Of course you can just put sand under the cages and the chickens will go under them and root through for food bits and bugs attracted to the quail poo.

I am doing the Atkins Diet. Started on it 1/1/12 @ 245lbs and weighed in at 228.2lbs today. I am on the Atkins Diet, some don't like it but it works for me....

The only suggestion I can make is drink lots of water, and I mean lots!!!! I am drinking around 100 fl oz per day. No soda, no sugar in coffee, and only a teaspoon of cream in it. But all diets are good. DW - Allison - lost 155lbs on her diet...... But if WW is not working for you, then try the Atkins Diet, follow it to the rule and weight will come off..... If you want any further advice on it or words of encouragement pm me.....

I'm glad Atkins is working for you. I don't think I could handle a very structured plan. I like the WW because I can eat basically what I want I just have to keep up with my points. I have been doing well keeping in or under points daily. My dr even said that WW works you just have to get the exercise aspect in there. I drink a ton of water throughout the day. Exercising is the one thing I am not doing as much of lately as I should, though I am trying. It's just winter time and I have the challenge of doing exercsing with 3 kids constantly around. I would love to be able to walk up and down the road with them but I'd need leashes for the oldest 2 to keep them with me because I know they would want to run ahead! I'm looking forward to spring whenthe weather will be more regularly warm and the kids can get outside to play. Really as long as I am seeing results weekly I am happy. I am fine with weight coming off a 1-2 lbs at a time. If you think about it just losing a lb a week for a year means a total loss of 50lbs in a year! I will do some research on the Atkins diet though I may be able to add some aspects of it to my current diet.
