Is anyone NPIP certified? I can't find any good info on how to get certification

Call your local County Ag office and ask them for the poultry inspector in your area or the state inspectors #. You then just schedule testing.

How old do the birds need to be before you have them NPIP tested?

Atleast 16 weeks (4 months) and that means all your birds if you are a newbie (never been tested) or they will have to come back again. Also once you are NPIP you can only purchase birds/eggs from other people who are NPIP, but anyone can purchase from you.

Being puppy midwife today..gotta go here comes another one

So does all chicken owners have to get this test done or just if you're a biz or something? Thank you. :)

NPIP is NOT a requirement. For me I show my poultry so have to be PT tested for that anyway, it just makes sense to have the entire flock done once a year.

Some backyard flock owners do it just for pure ease of mind knowing their flock is PT & AI clean.

For those small business bird/egg sellers, there are lots of buyers who only look for NPIP sellers.

Spent the day raking out the soon to be garden area while the chickens followed us around trying to scratch in the freshly tilled ground.

I am SO angry though...just noticed that I need (NEED) to get moving on my saddles as I have TWO girls who are missing half of their feathers on their back from being "overworked" by the boys. Maybe they will get some relief when one of the boys gets sent to the freezer?!? Still, I have to get a saddle for them. On top of that, I noticed that I need to start trimming bum feathers on the cochins and I am NOT looking forward to that!! I'm such a chicken...wait, I think mine are braver than I!!

Thank you all for your well wishes/prayers for DD. She is feeling better. I had called the doctors on Thursday and they just wanted me to watch her. I gave her some watered down wellness herbal tea and some cayenne & cinnamon to help her expel whatever is in her lungs...she graciously shared with me, so now I am hacking and sound like an emphysema patient.

Off to make a new dinner tonight using a Tagine (some moroccan dish)...hoping I don't burn the house down or break it!! LOL
