That would be a Red Golden Chinese Crested Pheasant male youngster.

A Chinese red golden male pheasant. He'll be a year old this summer, they don't get their full color till two years old.

Every single one I can! I'll start saving for another incubator load today. Wish I could let the girls incubate, but every time I do the fire ants take the nest at hatch...turkeys, chickens, everyone. They just come out of nowhere. No nest is safe here. My fireant supercolony is part of a research project, but that doesn't make me like them.

Fire ants are a PITA

We have them too but I hope it's not a super colony

The only way I can keep them to managable is Sevin dust and a metal pole.
I make a big hole in the top of any nest with the pole and then dust the devil all around and on it. Keeps those little demons on the run and not able to make a big nest. Ambrose worked well but you can't have any livestock on the treated area for a year and thats just not gonna work. Hope you can find something to work for you. Good luck on the hatching

which is why I dust 2-3 times a week..........we are in a rural area.....meaning it's a cut wooded area across from me

and mother nature aint killin off her critters

don't think DE is any better than the Sevin.......
I like the Sevin better and I did try that old farmers trick of cornmeal or cream of wheat......
did not work...
.just fed the little suckers so that they made more colony
