[Country Chickens]

Have been busy the last couple days--and so have you guys! I finally caught up the thread, but now it's time for me to go to bed! (haha, I rythme) Well, here's my contribution before I go. This is what we've got in the brooder right now.



A little guinea keet (our only one--girls can't make up their minds if they're gonna lay or not) one of the dozen silkie chicks we're hatching, and the new Marans we just got in this morning! They all had a busy day out-running one another and are now totally tired!

PffffT..... The kids are so excited right now. Wait until daily life sets in. I have had 1 offer to do diaper duty as long as it is not duty.

YES, YES, YES!!! I have two just hatched...only 23 more to go

. The first two are from DH mixed pen and not the expensive eggs I bought...go figure!! but this is my first hatch so I am SUPER excited!!

So new news here............. we have a new foster child. A 2 year old little boy. Cute little guy and well behaved ...... so far.

Had to dig out car seat and monitor etc.... Haven't had a baby in the house in over 2 years. My baby is going to be 10 this summer.

You know that explains a lot really. My DH MUST still be a kid, as he agrees to do diapers when he is home so long as none of them are "stinky"... You are such a sweetheart for taking in a little boy. Although CSB & RF live closer to you, I claim a play date FIRST!! LOL

My DD just LOVES flirting with all sorts of boys, especially older ones!! She usually goes for those that are 70-80, but 2 would be a nice change of pace for her!! (Just DON'T ask her to say glasses lest you want the 2 yo to have a new colorful sounding vocab word!!).

I am so sorry to hear that your EMU egg isn't going to hatch after all.

I was so looking forward to being chased by an Emu when we came to visit!!

Now the real question is...how do you get rid of the bomb without setting it off?!?

As always...those nn ARE cute!! I need to get with you on helping you reduce your flock!! Double suggested I have you incubate some for me (since I don't have a broody...boo) and keep the ladies, eat the roos....but I am thinking I need to add a little more variety in the flock before we go that route...maybe get a few ee's (oohh...pink tinted ones...COOL, can we get purple too?? LOL) or something else that lays chocolate brown eggs...or anything really but white (don't ask me why but DH swears brown eggs taste better than white!! LOL

)

Good Thursday Morning to everyone!! Looks like we have a nice day in store for us and rain on the way tomorrow. Congrats on all the new hatches & arrivals & those of you expecting arrivals (including goats & turkeys & emu's & such)!! Also WELCOME to all the new folks I might have missed in the 10 or so pages I skipped reading (lol...oops).

Countdown remains: 19 days until I am ALLOWED to go (per one BYC'er)!! 31 "official" days left until EDD!!

Hubby has already emptied the muck tubs and wheelbarrow I loaded yesterday, so when I get back from my appointments this afternoon, I can get back to work! I love working outside in the spring.
