I am now at 3 dead bird and 2 more sick ones...I have given them both the Tylan50 and have put Duramycin in all waterers. Can someone give me the dosage for each. How many cc'sof the Tynal for young birds (5 months and older but not laying yet) and how many teaspoons of the Duramycin per gallon of water?
If they are 5 months and older I'd go with .5 cc every day per bird. If you have nutridrench give them a couple drops to give them some nutrient boost. Also found a thread about misting/fogging birds with oxine so they breath it in. It worked great on my sick birds. :hugs I hope the others get better :fl

I hope all you ladies had a GREAT mother's day... which you better have had... because you are awesome mothers!!!!!

I did have a great day myself... thank goodness. I was worried I wouldn't get that coop done today with the rain. But I did... I did!!! Happy meat birds. :D

Mothers day hatch is just about over & done, waiting on 2 more zipped pheasants. Then I think the next hatch is some ducks. Next batch of chicks locks down next Sat.

Counted my birds yesterday...downsizing is going well. Came up with 146.

Good Rainy morning everyone!!

I hope your Mother's Day went well. I had a great one myself!! DH finished my sewing room, I was treated to a large box of Shari's Berries - which are the BIGGEST chocolate covered strawberries I have ever seen, found out someone is giving us a freezer chest - yay, now we have a place for meat birds & surplus fruits/veggies from the garden, oh and one of our trees is producing nectarines!!!! However, my BEST Mother's Day feature happened last night when DD#2 slept from 10pm-2am!! This was the first time she has slept more than 1.5-2 hours at a time. It was a treat indeed - now to only figure out what we did differently so it happens again. LOL

We still have 2 broody hens and last night when I was putting them up for the night, I noticed that the Cochin...is an EGG THIEF!! Apparently sitting on 7 eggs was NOT enough (she was given an extra egg, because somehow the egg ended up in an empty nesting box and the one it belonged to wouldn't put it under her, so I gave it to my Belle) she had all 7 marked eggs PLUS at least 5 other eggs!! I took the non-marked ones away from her (when she hopped off to grab a bite to eat), but I had to giggle. At least that explains WHY we weren't getting any eggs. Dutchess has yet to be seen off of her nest, so I have no clue if there are 5 eggs under her or more/less. We'll find out around the first week of June!!

Egg question: Is it normal to find some blood streaks inside of your egg (when you crack them open) and if so, anyone know what causes it? DH went to have some fried eggs yesterday, and a few of them had blood streaks. I cannot be sure, but these might have been from the extra eggs that my Belle was sitting on, so could that mean they were starting to develop?!? Thank you for your help!!

And need the dosage for Ivomec(injectable), please.

Good morning, all! Morning chores are done, and all is well.

Got my first two lambs in for this year, but the people I usually get them from had a low lambing season and aren't selling many. I'll keep an eye on the Ag Review, but if anyone knows sources for wool breed sheep ram lambs or wethers, I'd be pleased to hear about it.

Trying to decide if today is chickenhouse cleanout day or not. Don't want to do it in the rain, for sure.

Anybody getting together here to buy feed in larger quantity to gain discounts? I saw this mentioned on another thread and thought I'd ask.

I would if I knew anyone to go in with. My only chicken friends locally both only have 6 to 10 birds each where i have 60...lol...I really want to get some grains from a new place to add into my layer but they sell it really really cheap but a minimum 500 lbs and theres no way I can reasonably go through 500 lbs of food before it stales and is just no nutritional value. :(

Good morning, everyone!!

I hope everyone had a great mother's day! I know I did...I got to spend lots of time playing outside with my kids, gardening a little (pulling weeds in my veggie garden) and selling a pair of young EE's unexpectedly. I've also decided I'm getting a hive of honey bees in the near future. I people that bought the EE's shared some of their honey from the hive they have, and it is the best honey I have ever had.

I have chicks hatching this friday, blue sex links, "toppie" chicks, and EE chicks all from doublea. I'm very excited to see what hatches from the mix eggs! Hoping for a few to have a top hat/crest.

Everyone stay dry in this weather today!
