hope everyone has a good day
and it doesn't get too wet or muddy for you

Good Morning everyone!! Had a wonderful thunderstorm last night, DD#2 is sleeping almost 3-4 hours between feedings at night now. I don't want to risk saying it, but I must...things are going great here!!

Congrats on getting sleep!

Now, take some of that extra time and update your signature line on here...or you'll be pregnant forever!

I went out to feed this morning, and my pet bird, a Golden Commet named Ms Bossy, was not there.

Normally she's jumping up and down at my feet, fussing at me, to get her breakfast scratch by hand instead of (gasp) off the ground. This morning there was no jumping. No fussing. I called and called, thinking maybe she had gotten out, but she would come for breakfast. Nothing. Then I started walking. I walked over every bit of this little 5.5 acres, looking for a kill spot. Nothing.

I went back to the henhouse to get my egg bucket, and there sits Ms Bossy in the darkest corner of the perches, looking smug, and with a crop half full of fresh scratch. I guess she just thought I needed exercise this morning.

All the others are just chickens. Livestock. Ms Bossy is a pet. I would be very unhappy if I lost her. And she's an older bird, too. I've had her five years and she was an adult when I got her. I guessed her about two then, so about seven now. She won't live forever, but I'll hate to lose her when the time comes. It was a relief to find her this morning, for sure!

Amazing what a chicken can do to you, isn't it?
