You are the best downsizer I ever met!

Well next weekend, I hope to be taking lots of extras to WCA and week before last, someone came and bought 30 birds. AND NH is getting some Guineas and ducks. So I THOUGHT I was doing it right....sell 30-40 chickens and then bring home 7-8 more ducks.

Somehow that makes sense to me.

Quote: I hope you are healing well, too.

I thought of you as I was working on getting up, knowing that your damage was far more extensive. How are you healing? As for me, a few mild painkillers and the hard shoe will do me. I did some errands today with just Jake and didn't need a stick, and the shoe allows me to drive without adding pain, so all is well.
I'm healing up okay, no more crutches for the twisted ankle, all stitches out, ribs are hurting some, and my arm is still in a sling(when I wear it :lau I'm a horrible paitent). I think the hardest/painful thing for me was the withdrawl. I went through it a few years ago as a stupid teenager, and this time I thought I'd relapse. I finaly forced myself to got out and clean the barn this weekend., so I finaly accomplished something. And I've been keeping my mind busy with my plans to switch entirely to Orps and cochins. Well, I hope you all have a Wonderful Morning and a great day! :D

Good morning folks

Well......today I get to meet the rest of
the bus load............ This will be a new
challenge.........before it was mixed loads,
high school and middle school together
and that works well as the middle schoolers
will behave better and the high schoolers
will keep them in line. Three years ago the
powers that be separated them bus loads
and now...........well.......it's going to be

Good Morning, Everyone!

Hubby let me sleep in, saying he'd do the chickens this morning so I didn't have to hop-a-long in the dark. Yay!

Beth, Wow! I didn't realize you'd actually sold so many of your birds. Just watch those muscovies; they breed faster than rabbits!

Off to work...have a great day everyone!

I still have way too many..... and we pick up the eggs everyday. Except the dozen Muscovy eggs Alex gave me yesterday that we stuck under my broody Muscovy hen....the don't count !

Well, it's been a fun day. I didn't mention it this morning, but on the way back from feeding, I bent over to pick up something on the ground, and got head-butted by a 170 pound mastiff puppy. Took a hard tumble, and knew I'd damaged something in my foot. I thought it was just the toe (although nowadays "just" isn't a part of my damage vocabulary!), but I had to go to the ER to make sure the foot bones weren't broken. So now I have the leg brace on the left, and a board-shoe on the right for a broken toe. (Seems so silly. I used to not bother going in for something that small!) I'll have to have both Jake and one of my forearm crutchs for a few days. They said 6-8 weeks, but even though that's the healing time for a bone I'm expecting to at least be able to move around with just Jake after I get used to the shoe and the swelling goes down a bit. He and I have gotten pretty good at working together and I love not needing the crutches. (At least I didn't fall out of a tree while catching raccoons...not that I'd mention names......)

Reilly tried to make amends by giving me lots of kisses while I was on the ground, and even tried to bring me water, by getting a large drink himself and then giving me more kisses. Gotta love a mastiff.

I had stupidly 1.) not taken my phone, and 2.) left the other dogs inside. So Reilly had only me to play with and I couldn't wake up hubby when I fell. Took me about 20 minutes to get to the porch steps and use them to get up. I think I found every dang acorn between where I fell and the house, and it was only about ten yards. When I finally got up and to the door, Jake was waiting there all worried. I guess he had heard me fall and knew something was wrong, and he couldn't get to me.

So, half the day in the ER, then lots of errands on the way home, since we were lready aout. We had lunch out, which was nice. This is how hubby and I get "date time" these days!

I hope everyone else had a great day, particularly Sick Child!

I am so sorry to hear about your fall!! We will be praying for a quick recovery for you!! I am glad to read that even in the midst of pain & suffering you were able to find a silver lining - date time!
hugs.gif
Get better soon and no special treat for Reilly today!! Doctor's orders!! LOL

Sorry about your fall hollowoak. Hope you get better quick.

SOS what kind of silkie project are you working on?

to all the new flockers

MMM cheese, now once you learn how to do this NH, you might have to teach me how. Than maybe I can fill up my cheese monster enough so that I can have some to lol.

Gotta love back to school when everything breaks down! Phone, internet, car, mower. Must mean I am comming in to a little bit of money to help pay this BIG fix it bill.
lau.gif
I don't know if your cheese monster will like it, as I am attempting to learn how to make raw cheese from our raw milk (not processing it in any way)...should be a FUN experiment. LOL if I fail completely, I guess my chickens/guineas/ducks will all get to have some gooey treats?!? LOL

Chick update: we are down to the last days...I have decided if she doesn't hatch anymore eggs by tomorrow (that would be 1 week past the expected last hatch day) then we will take her off the eggs and let her have fun raising up her 6 babies!!

Baby update: DD#2 seems to be doing better. She is still uncomfortable and irritable, but who wouldn't be with blisters (that praise the Lord have popped and are healing wonderfully well) everywhere. I am still thinking it was a very mild case of chickenpox!! I will trust a seasoned (ie: elderly) mother of 12 over a doctor any day and she said that's what it looked like to her. I think the case was mild enough to not bother DD#1 (then again she did have her first vaccine to it as well, so who knows) and I SHOULD be immune to them (if it was chickenpox). The worst of the blisters have healed wonderfully and there are NO scars... I fear the ones on her hands may scar, but I have been rubbing some coconut oil on them hoping to heal the skin and prevent some scarring.
idunno.gif
Funny part she never had a temp over 99.0!! I don't get it, but maybe that just means she has a good immune system (which she did NOT get from me!! LOL)?? Thank you again for all your prayers, thoughts and kind words!!
hugs.gif
It just goes to prove that we have the BEST BYC bunch out there!!

Well most of the kiddos are gone for school
wee.gif
now what to do with the free time besides chase the last kiddo around... maybe get a fall planting of beans and peas in.. or fix a chicken pen....mmmm decisions decisions
