Ok, what is WCA. I know I am too lazy to look it up.
****, I hope I never get bugs with my flocks, sounds like alot of trouble. Been real lucky I guess....

Bummer news on this overcast droopy day. Ok, not really bummer news but...... Of my 7 summer babies, I now know 3 are Boys with a possible 4th one and 3 girls for sure. The possible 4th is one large chicken. The white one tried to crow last week, nothing from the others yet. The 3 are making roo noise while scratching and have started their spurs. The possible 4th is one of my biggest chickens out of that bunch but no spur growth what so ever. Will try to take pictures on the next nice or kind of nice day. FYI, these chickens are what I consider to be teenagers. approx 4 to 5 months old. Almost ready to go to join the others. The white mix I am going to keep for one flock while as it is now, I am not sure who the other lucky one will be. I have room for 2 roos, the rest are freezer boys. On the next 9, they are only 5 weeks old and so I can not really tell yet. I have checked out the pixs here so, maybe I can figure it out soon. The newest 10 are now 2 weeks old and still at that cute stage with just wing and tail feathers starting or growing good.

Oh man, Billy (72) just came over for eggs and after looking at my 4 month olds, told me I had maybe 2 boys and get this, That girls will try to crow when they are young as well. mmm, so is this true or not. Billy has alot of info but alot of it is just him having fun with me. He is one of the gang of 8 (all over 70) that always have a little bit of info for me that may be true or not. Got to love them good ole boys...
So again I am not sure what I have, Drat!!!!

So here is to a better tomorrow that is not rainy but nicer than today. My little ones need a field day again....

Part social gathering and some biding on chickens I figure.

Any place I can look up about what and how it works, instead of having everyone tell me, since it seems everyone but us noobs knows already.

And no, don't tell me to ask any of the gang of 8. Lord know what they will tell me...

WCA..Is a chicken/small animal auction. A bunch of us like to meet up and "talk chicken etc"

LOL Its an auction every Sunday. They sell chickens, ducks, small livestock, etc. It starts at 2 and there are usually 200-500 boxes of birds. Many of us bring extras to sell there, buy a few, and use it as a social gathering. We "camp out" in the corner and socialize and laugh that the auctioneer can't seem to read most days. LOL

WOW!!! that does sound like a nice way to spend a Sunday.

maybe during the beginning of next year for me or us.
I will have to set some ground rules for the missus. She is a sucker for any type of auctions. I have had to hold her down and almost gag her before at some. She does love to bid and if she sees something I am either stuck or holding her down.... We have never done an animal auction but she can spend a ton full (and she wonders why she has to work) at a toy or old things auction... I live in a place that the only new thing we have is the TV. The grandkids love to visit and play with the old metal Tonka toys and read the old Golden books and big little books we have... mmm, so maybe just me the first time....

There is an auction in Kenly...Beulaville and IDK where else...there are several others and flock swaps also. Check out your area craigslist. I am not sure exactly you are located.

Holy Smokes, those are some spurs!!!!!!!

and is a female, sheesh. I would not want to run into her in a dark alley.....

We do have an older soon to be dinner Roo in the next coop with a common wire wall....


Beth, Vanceboro is between, New Bern (west of, I think) and Greenville (east of). closer to New Bern, off 43, close to the 17. Acutally we are in the county part of Vanceboro, a itty bitty little town. After about 6 or so years here, I still am not sure where I am or where other stuff is, if I have not had a reason to be there.... Oh, I see where abouts you and Ramirez are on my dusty ole map.... I just have to keep it close to see where everyone is...
