Do not let it dry out before you clean it out. Did you know that chick poo is a good glue when it dries out

From experience......straw + mud = CEMENT!! LOL
yep a good cement too!!!

Good Morning, Happy People!

As of when I went to bed, there were two blue and one black Amers and one Welsummer. I'll be checking in a few minutes, so cross your crossables!

Today is another long one. I've got to drive an hour north to Benson first thing, then back home, then 35 minutes south to work.

Goodbye rain, hello cold. At least it's not both at the same time! I prefer the rain to the cold. I don't get the muck some of you seem to deal with.

Enjoy your day!

Good morning everyone. Just went out to open the coop for the day. Looks like everyone stayed warm and dry. I had three pullets that were insisting on staying in a tree last night, but I got them in the coop without much fussing.

Yeah, I got wet alright. I had to get those girls in the coop. They were already soaked from being outside all day. We had the big flakes too. Bailey, our barn kitty was trying to dodge them last night. He didn't know which way to run.

Good morning everyone!! I am THOROUGHLY disappointed that we didn't get ANY snow...just rain and MORE rain!! I am thinking the ducks are going to have to teach the chickens how to swim out in the run!!
Okay, so straw is out...what is another good idea to put down, so it is not such a PIT out there?!? I am worried that it's just going to get worse and worse (I have spotted a few "craters" starting to form). Suggestions?? Sadly we do not own a truck, so we can't bring in a load of gravel or something like that...we can't even fix our driveway, but that's another forum...LOL.

I have absolutely NOTHING planned for today (aside from more diapers). I am hoping to get some things done, but honestly, I have had NO motivation lately (I blame pregnancy hormones, even if it's not...it's the baby's fault...yeah) and letting the chickens out will be an accomplishment in and of itself. LOL. Seriously, all I want to do is sew, but I NEED to do other things (like a good old-fashioned scrub down in several rooms)...it's those other things I don't want to do...so, who wants to come over and help me procrastinate?? LOL

Have a great day everyone!!

Hi All,
I'm new here and Just getting started at raising my backyard chickens here in Wilmington. Coop and run almost done!  I am thinking of ordering my chicken from Murray McMurray, but must order a lot of 15 minimum. I can only keep 6-8. Anyone out there interested in ordering with me?
Let me know!
